Millions of Sri Lankans cast their vote in an unexpectedly close presidential elections that has the twice jubilant President Mahinda Rajapaksa pitted against an unlikely opponent, his former minister Maithripala Sirisena. While until recently, it was assumed that the current president would win easily, Sirisena's popularity among the citizens of the South Asian island nation has made the seventh presidential elections quite interesting.
